Kaitlin McKenzie Fiumara

for Nether Providence fourth ward commissioner

Kaitlin McKenzie Fiumara is running for the seat in the 4th Ward vacated by Republican Nate Much. The 4th Ward is a majority D ward and the second most Democratic Ward in the Township and is the key to turning Nether Providence blue.

Kaitlin A. McKenzie-Fiumara is a state and local tax attorney with the national law firm Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP.  Kait consults with clients on state and local taxes, and escheat/unclaimed property issues. She assists clients across many industries with respect to audits, appeals, return positions and litigation. Kait’s experience covers numerous state and local taxing jurisdictions—most notably Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and Philadelphia. Her areas of focus include sales and use taxes, income and franchise taxes, withholding tax, and unclaimed property services.

In 2015, Kait was appointed to the City of Philadelphia’s Tax Review Board by then Mayor Michael A. Nutter. The Board resolves all non-judicial disputes regarding City taxes, charges, fees and fines. She clerked for Judge Albert W. Sheppard in Philadelphia’s Commerce Case Management Program.

Kait spent her childhood in northern New Jersey and attended University of Pittsburgh for undergraduate work where she graduated with a B.A. in sociology and environmental studies and a B.S. in economics.  She moved to the Philadelphia area in 2003 to attend Villanova law school where she graduated in 2006, and later in 2007 received her LL.M. in taxation from Villanova as well.  Kait later earned an M.B.A. from Temple’s Fox School of Business.  Kait is engaged in the community through her three children, six year old Tyler, and four year old twins, Zack and Laynie.
