Paul Jacobs

for Constable

I am Paul Jacobs and I am running for constable this year. Your first question is probably, “What does a constable do?” The primary purpose of a constable in Pennsylvania is to ensure that every voter is free to vote without interference. As we’ve seen recently, our democracy is fragile and at risk. I am running this year to protect the rights of voters in Nether Providence.

For most of the last decade, Nether Providence has had only one of its two allotted constables to cover its precincts. If elected I will work with our longtime constable William Sweeney. Please also support your local judge and inspectors of election who are also up for election this year. The work they do is critical to our democracy. If you have time, please consider volunteering to staff your precinct on Election Days as well.

As for my experience, I have been a poll worker in my precinct for the last four years. I have helped my neighbors exercise their right to vote every Election Day. As a member of the Democratic Committee I have worked with members of both parties and independents to help staff every election board in Nether Providence.

My family and I live in the Garden City area of Nether Providence. I serve on the township’s Environmental Advisory Committee and work in Swarthmore College’s physics department. You may have seen me biking back and forth to the college, a tradition in my family going back generations. I am a licensed amateur radio operator and participate in ARRL’s Amateur Radio Emergency Service. This year I have volunteered with DelCo’s Citizen Corp at their vaccine PODs to help with vaccine distribution. Prior to the pandemic, I taught Sunday School at church and volunteered in events like STEM night at NPE.

I am looking forward to this new opportunity to serve our community. Thank you for exercising your right to vote and thank you for your support.
